The CARS
Live - shit I thought I ordered The Corrs Live. Never mind, I've been a fan of
the Cars since the late '70s up until Ric Ocasek left when the group just fell
apart.
This live concert was recorded for the German TV show
Musikladen and if nothing else, shows have much recording and fold back
techniques have developed over the last 23 years. The sound quality has a
potential that was never quite realized - everything's there but just not in the
right amounts.
They play 11 songs live including Let The Good Times Roll
and Candy-O plus some others I've never heard before (or ever want to hear
again). Apart from the historical value of seeing The Cars on the eve of their
only European tour, there's not much here for anyone. Except if you're a bass
player and haven't seen a Vox semi-acoustic bass before.
The absolute killer here is a section in the special
features called a CD Sampler. One might assume we could hear a selection of Cars
tracks to whet our appetite so I sat down to enjoy 10 tracks only to get
really pissed off when I found out each track only ran for 20 seconds before
fading out !
Warning Will Robinson - Avoid this one like the Plague.
