Love is something I don't take lightly, certainly I love my Wife, my Kids and to an extent my Motorcycle (you have to own one to appreciate that) but 2 (yes two) Cello players? You'll have to watch this DVD before you'll understand what I'm talking about. (It's something about the way they hold their instruments).

Jeff Lynne formed ELO back in the '70s and was one of the first popular fusions of strings, guitar and percussion. I was never enamored with the whole process, I guess the jump from Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix across to ELO was too broad, as I've mellowed, however, I've come to appreciate what a great musician and arranger Jeff Lynne really is. Jeff disbanded ELO back in the mid '80's and although other members tried to revive it and toured, it was always Jeff Lynne's band and the results were never the same without him.

After years of producing for other people and stints with all star bands like the Traveling Wilbury's Jeff decided to make a new Album (or should it be CD these days) called Zoom. To promote his new venture he formed a new band (with some old members thrown in) and did a tour of the U.S. Recorded at CBS Television City in Los Angeles in 2001 this is 98 minutes of great music. As a result of the location, the video is obviously of the highest quality with vivid colours which are not saturated.

Most of the oldies are here with standouts being Mr. Blue Sky and Livin' Thing. The musicianship of the band members is as good as it gets and the arrangements, as one might expect from a band leader - producer, are studio quality. The actual sound recording is almost reference quality and as a consequence this DVD is now part of my set up rig (along with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel's "Live in London" and Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells II Live"). Sound is in DTS 5.1, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Stereo. with the picture being in 1.78:1.

You don't have to be an ELO fan to enjoy this DVD, the audio is so good that anyone owning a top notch sound system will marvel at the resultant noises emanating from the speaker system in their home. This is a "Must Have" DVD.
