One of the questions most asked is "what is the right
system for me?" Obviously everyone's needs are different, but we thought we'd
try to categorize Home Theatre into a format that may help the potential
purchaser. These systems are suggestions only and should be fine tuned by
talking to one of our sales guy's (I was going to call them Audio Consultants
but none of them take themselves quite that seriously and they need the use of
both hands to move equipment around).
At this stage we'll ignore the Video side of things so as
not to confuse the situation.
So what criteria do we use? Generally we need to know
several critical parameters for the Audio bits.
- Budget - obviously money is an issue, although the perception of how much
is needed may change as the exercise progresses.
- Size of the Room. Although this may change in the future, this gives us a
guide to optimizing the current situation.
- Type of Music and Volume played. This gives us an idea of the finesse
needed by the speaker system and the dynamics which the receiver should have
available for delivery.
- Aesthetics - Generally this means a preference between floor standing
speakers and the Sub/Satellite type speaker systems. There is no major
difference in sonics as a few of the Sub/Sat systems can outperform most of
the giant floor standing systems.
- What do you want the system to do? Speakers throughout the house or
dedicated to one room?
If you want us to suggest a system based on the
preceding criteria for your individual situation,
e-mail
us with the answers from 1 - 5 and we'll try to work it out the best we can and
get back to you within 2 days. We'll also design some generic systems and post
them on this page as time allows.
